This year our anniversary fell during our COVID-19 quarantine. Since this year we had neither of those as an option, we had to get creative. I racked my brain for weeks, trying to come up with a fun way for us to get out of the house but not interfere with our quarantine. Lucky for you, My friends and I have come up with some of the best, “movie night” ideas! I am going to show you the best way to quarantine & have a movie date night. Then at the bottom of the page you can see what other ideas my friends came up with!

This year our anniversary fell during our COVID-19 quarantine. Typically we would take a family trip or have a weekend spent alone to relax and appreciate each other. Since this year we had neither of those as an option, we had to get creative. I racked my brain for weeks, trying to come up with a fun way for us to get out of the house but not interfere with our quarantine. What I came up with was a date night idea that we will continue to use, even after Covid-19!
My idea stems from the good old days where we would load up the car with pillows and blankets and head to the Drive-in Movie theatre. I knew the feel was something I could recreate and did not need to spend much either, which was also a bonus!
Setting up a movie date night in the car:
My husbands car doesn’t have carseats, so I knew it would be the ideal car for our movie date night! The middle row also folds down to give a lot of space. If you are feeling a little extra get yourself one of these blow up mattresses designed to fit in cars! If not, and you budgeting like me, just use 3 or four comforters or blankets to make the back of the truck/car/suv extra comfy!

Next, I chose to rent a Redbox DVD so we could watch something new we had not already seen, but you could also pick one of your favorite classic movies! You do not need to have a screen player installed in your car, I used one our portable DVD players and set it up in the back. This was nice, because if we got uncomfortable we could adjust and move the DVD player with us.
For snacks and drinks, we picked up our favorite pizza from Metro Pizza and stocked up on a couple $1 candy boxes from target. I also picked up a couple of waters and sodas and put those in a cooler.
Enjoying a movie date night in the car:
To get the full experience of a movie date night, we wanted to leave the driveway! However, if you’ll be sipping on some “juice” I would say keep the car parked in the driveway. 🤣

Since we live near the mountains, it only took us about 5 minutes to drive up high enough and park. We picked a spot that displayed the whole city but was off the road, to be sure no one would drive by and hit us. It was quite and such beautiful view. I defiantly recommend choosing spot that displays the beauty of your town!
We parked the car a bit before sunset, and watched the sun set, ate our pizza & snapped some photos to remember this anniversary by. Then once the night fall hit, we popped our movie on and started snacking on some candy!
