Idk about your kids, but ours LOVE all things Elf on the Shelf! For the last 3 years my husband and I have racked our brains and Pinterest to create fun scenes for the kids to wake up and find. I have compiled some of the biggest hits we’ve had. Here you’ll find our top 10 elf on the shelf ideas kids will love.

OUR IDEAS:

Every year when our Elf – Princess Elf – arrives, we setup a note to each kid and a “I’m back” scene. You can tell my K’s face, she wasn’t ready for the constant watching of Santa’s helper.

Our youngest is obsessed with Frozen, especially Elsa. We used our plastic Elf on the Shelf from a game we have & froze it in a cup. Right before the kids woke up, we took the elf out and set it on the counter. We positioned the Elsa Barbie to “Freeze” the elf. Disclaimer, the ice will be melting, so you’ll defiantly want to place a plate or bowl under the elf to catch the water.

One of our Christmas Traditions has always been watching the movie Elf. So we had to pay tribute by having our own princess elf eat the sacred elf breakfast! Spaghetti, syrup, marshmallows, candy...the works!

Another super simple setup up, is camping! My husband used a piece of tin foil to create a tint and then used colored popsicle sticks to create a “fire”. You can see Princess Elf loves a good s’more, just as much as we do!

Hands down one of the easiest Elf on the Shelf ideas, has to be snow angels! Warning, this will make a mess and you may need to wash your elf after this! Simply pour some flour or sugar on the counter and then make snow angels with your elf!

Admittedly, not a great photo of this idea, however it is a fun experiment for the kids! Right before the kids make their way downstairs we popped a few dino grow capsules (we picked up at the dollar store) into water and setup. The kids thought this was awesome, and played with the dinos all day.

I think all kids are fascinated by the idea of poop and pooping. Don’t ask me why, I think its gross. We played off that though and setup our Princess elf to be caught pooping. We used glitter play dough and put some fun sprinkles ontop to make the poop magical.

By Christmas time, were all wishing for the pool and Princess Elf was no different! Her and the Barbies had a small pool party with soda and Olaf!

Our Elf is ALWAYS hungry, one night we set her up with a tub of peanut butter and a spoon!

Another easy & fun Elf on the Shelf scene is a simple Tee Pee to the tree!
