How to make Mothers Day special during quarantine

One thing many people have struggled with during quarantine is how to make birthdays, anniversary, holidays & other important dates special. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that my husband and I recently celebrated our 7th year wedding anniversary in our car! It is a memory I will cherish forever and although it was not traditional it was fun! Since Mothers Day coming up, (May 10th) I wanted to share a fun idea on how to make Mothers Day special during quarantine.

MY IDEA:

My idea for how to make Mothers Day special during quarantine, is a Mother Daughter Tea Party! But not just any old type of tea party! A tea party where your hubby takes photos of you and the kids!

You can set this up in your home, backyard or park! We had our tea party in the mountains, which is another great option if you have a place open near you! The best part is this can be done with full social distancing!

MAKE IT SPECIAL:

You maybe thinking, a tea party?! We’ve had 1000 of them since we’ve been in quarantine. BUT! This tea party is much more special!

Get dressed up! Go all out, just like royalty! I put the girls in their Easter Dresses and ordered myself a matching dress. Then I topped our look off with matching floral crowns. If you are on a tight budget or cannot get new outfits, don’t worry! Anything that makes y’all happy to wear is going to be perfect!

Have your significant other create a nice tray of crackers and cheese to bring & maybe even pick up some Chick-Fil-A Sweet Tea! A few other supplies you will want to bring are:

Food/Snacks (full meal or a few snacks, either way she’ll feel special!)
Blanket (the fluffier the better!)
Cups/Plates/napkins
Tea Party Set (if you don’t have one that’s okay!)
Camera (to document this special time!)
Flowers for mom!
Presents (its a perfect time to surprise her with her gifts)

DOCUMENT THIS UNFORGETTABLE MEMORY:

While mom is sipping her tea with her littles, its time for dad to grab the camera and take photos! He doesn’t have to be the best photographer to capture the raw, in the moment, love y’all are sharing.

A few PRO TIPS to enhance the photos are:

Place the flowers in a vase to level up the picnic area
Don’t always look at the camera, catch the raw moments
Do not sit in direct sunlight
Practice good posture
You can always use filters on the pictures
HAVE FUN! If the photos are “pinterest worthy” THATS OKAY! Because they are going to be something y’all can look back on and cherish, FOREVER!

While the camera is out, take a few photos of the kids in their Sunday’s best. Maybe have the kids take a few photos of just you!

No matter where you decide to celebrate or even how you decide to celebrate, just remember it’s special! This is history and we will always have the story of how we quarantined and celebrated.
